I was bored tonight, but I don't have PS on this computer, so I fooled around on photobucket instead. Mostly fooling around with the same images. I'll probably make another post later.

For those of you who are writing NaNoWriMo, or just writing something,  I suggest Write or Die at http://lab.drwicked.com/writeordie.html

it's a great way to get a lot done. And I need all the help I can get. I have 400 words for 3 hours of work, but I've been working on a lot of plot ideas and such. So I have a lot for future writing, and hey, the day is still young. I know the NaNo site must be getting A LOT of traffic right now, but I wish it was working.
ladysophiekitty: (HHR hand in hand)
It has now been about a year and a few months since I mostly fell out of the Harry Potter fandom. Most of my participation now is because of all the great people I've met through Harry Potter that I still talk to and because I still have quite a few WIPS (and by quite a few, I mean about 13). Because of my lack of interest, it has been rather hard for me to write lately. My friend was like, "well, why don't you just abandon them?" But I can't do that. I'd feel bad for the people who read it and I hate leaving so many things unfinished. Therefor I have decided to do operation force-myself-back-in-the-fandom. At least temporarily, enough to get some writing done! So any essays, stories, graphics, or fond memories or favorite scenes you have to share from Harry Potter would be much appreciated. Preferably Harry/Hermione based, though any are nice.

Also, do you remember your first time being a part of a fandom? Not just Harry Potter, any fandom. I know I was very...confused at all the terms when I started out. "OBHWF? OTP? SHIP? What the hell is this shit?" and a lot of what I learned was through experimenting. Which wasn't always the nicest for my 11 year old self when it came to things like PWP (porn without plot) I've been thinking of making a fandom dictionary. What do you think of that? I might need some help though from you guys. I know a lot of terms, but I'm not completely fluent in fannish.

Sorry for the spammage today, by the way. *posts way too much*

Why must you hate me so, writing?

When I have the muse, I have no time and energy. When I have time and energy, I have no muse!

Today in English we were introduced to iambic pentameter poetry, and we read Shakespeare's Sonnet 27. Then we were told to write our own, something about  ecology since the english and biology honors classes are sort of connected. Anyway, since the only decent poetry I seem to write anymore seems to be for school (more about my past poetry in another post) I thought I'd share.

It all started with a light in the dark
It shone so bright with a small glint of hope
It sang to us like the song of a lark
Though life was harsh we knew that we could cope
Alas the ocean came to sing its song

The mountains rose above the new-formed earth

A rush of life flowed in to stay for long

Upon this rush there rode the spring, the birth

New flowers in the ground began to grow
Causing small birds and bees to pollinate
Creatures began to swim in the tide's flow

But even as love made bonds, so did hate

Hope the damage caused won't make the world fall

That the wounding will cease once and for all

ETA: My friend made her own version of the poem, so I mixed and matched to include hers in the spots I didn't like so much of mine. The blue represents her fixing.

Even though I wasn't going to until next month, once the post was staring at me, I couldn't help but join! So I'm participating in [livejournal.com profile] ficfinishing 's October round. Yay! Unfortunately they don't have Harry Potter yet (*cough anyone who requests it in the fandom requesting post will be much loved cough*) so I joined for Bones. I have been writing for that fandom a bit more lately, and it would be nice to FINALLY finish A Phone Call Away/A Day with the Squints/In the Dark drabble table. I signed up for ADwtS though, and will do the rest next time. Unless Harry Potter gets approved, that is.

Maybe next time I'll try to write some Angel. Still a bit hesitant about writing for that fandom, though.

Just out of curiosity, anyone else on my F-list joining in for [livejournal.com profile] ficfinishing  or Nanowrimo this year?

Post the first lines from your 25 most recent stories. Do you notice any patterns?
First Lines )

Does me cringing a lot count as a pattern? Because man doI suck. I guess I'll add more once I write them until I have 25. I posted most of them in order, but some weren't just because confusion of different sites.

ladysophiekitty: ((writing) Fan Fic writer)
According to my calculator, with all of my fics put together I have about 88,442 words written. Which is a lot for me. On fanfiction.net I am on the author alerts of 41 authors and the favorite author of 40, with a total of 533 reviews. On HPFF I have 1,232 reviews and am on 55 people's favorites.

Update wise, I've been writing more lately which is making me very happy. I haven't been writing much this year, sadly. Usually a chapter every 3 months or so. Hopefully this'll keep up, because I really want to finish my stories. I have been writing most of them for 3 years, and I am getting pretty tired of them. I want them over so I can work on new things, preferably for other fandoms since I don't really like Harry Potter anymore. I joined a community called [livejournal.com profile] ficfinishing  that I plan to participate in once I get settled in more to my new schedule with school and choir.  I also want to try to plan some of my stories out so that i have a more clear idea of where most of them are going. Figures that the one story I plan out, The Perfect Life?, has the notebook it was written in tossed in a box because we're packing up my room so that we can redo the carpets.
Anyway, here's a small list of what I hope to have up soon. HOPE, so if it's 6 months later and it's still not written, don't say I didn't warn you.
Harry Potter
Ghosts of Yesterday chapter 5 (Dear lord, it's been a year since I've updated already?)
Ship of Dreams chapter 5 (ditto)
Inheritance chapter 4
Speak chapter 18
The Perfect Life? chapter 2
A Single Deadly Sin (Dramione one-shot that I was challenged to write by Blue_Suede_Shoes of SAYS. I had to write Draco Malfoy for the sin lust)
Levels of Niceness (James/Lily one-shot)
Kissing You (a 7 one-shots story with a possible kiss scene for each book for Harry/Hermione, inspired by the Bones version written by ForaReason. Once I get her permission, that is.)

Bones

The Emily Brennan series:
A Day with the Squints (possible Nanowrimo thing)

Angel
Blood (Angel/Cordelia drabble

Wow, that's a lot. And I actually had to narrow a ton of things down since I have like, 12 work in progresses. *dies* I really need to complete some stories. Like, out of the 9 completed stories I have, only 2 are non one-shots. That's kind of sad. But I really love writing one-shots, and I've been writing more of them lately. I like it because you get an idea, sit down and write it for a bit, and then it's done. No real commitment, no more thoughts.

Looks like i have some busy months ahead of me. >_<

I am at heart a lurker. I read stories, I read entries, and usually unless I feel really strongly about something, I don't comment. On the occasion I have written really long thoughtful review, often times it either never gets responded to, or the response is "I'll try that thanks for the review" Yes, occasionally I'll get the long response back (and oh how I love it when I do) but those memories stay and tend to make me review less. If it's not that, it's something else: I'm too tired, I have to do something else, I get too caught up in the story, or I'm just plain lazy.

But you know what? I might not review every single story I come across, but I want to review more. I want to be one of those faithful reviewers that you notice every time. Particularly since I have been getting so many reviews lately.

I just wanted to say, partially because I'm more likely to do it when I have witnesses, and partially because I am up for recs, either for your own fics or for other people's. There isn't much I won't read as long as it's well written, though I prefer not to read slash (Unless it's Willow/Tara from Buffy the Vampire Slayer) or RHR/HG from Harry Potter. Even if I've read it before I'll read it again to review. I'm nice in my reviews, though I do give constructive criticism I usually manage to do it in a fairly nice way. I also fangirl a lot if I'm really enjoying something.

So, any takers?
ladysophiekitty: ((writing) Fan Fic writer)
For all of you on my F-list who write, this is for you.

One of my main problems with writing, besides my complete lack of focus, is that I tend to forget/contradict things and not look over what I've written after I've written it. With the exception of a few betaed chapters, I usually write something, I might (and very rarely) look over it briefly, and then post it.

So there's this story I wrote where I killed off this character, forgot I killed him off, and then a few chapters later I'm writing this rescue scene, and he's one of the rescuers! I end up getting a review that was like, "Umm, isn't Moody dead?"

What about you? Any silly mistakes you have?

X-posting this on SAYS and on The Pencil Posse.
Speaking of The Pencil Posse (self-promoting time) I'd loooove getting new members. Especially since things have been really quiet around there, lately. It's for writers of all fandoms, original fiction included.

I'd love you all forever.

A/N- I’d like to reinstate the warning I wrote in the first chapter: the characters are going to be somewhat out of character. I will have some in character moments here and there, but if something puts you off, that’s why. I’d also like to apologize for the wait. I seem to have encountered a brick wall with all of my stories, this one being no exception. Hopefully now that I have taken this small step writing will come easier to me now.

Dear self,

No matter how tempting it is, do not write another story. You already have enough work in progresses, and no matter how much you want to write a new story, you really shouldn't. You are already feeling stressed out enough as it is. Furthermore, please stop getting distracted by LJ and youtube and other pretty websites and write. You are making things more difficult than they should be. And for god's sake, please complete a story for once.

K thnx bye

OMG! I AM ON FIFTY PEOPLE'S FAVORITES LISTS! I do realize that I have some pretty popular authors on my friend's list (*coughJenandSusancough*) but this is really big for me. I remember 2 years ago when I only had 2 people, and 1 year ago when I only had 19. OMG I AM SO HAPPY. Except I feel kind of bad because I haven't written much lately. :/

Oh, and I have 1,092 Reviews in all! Just 2 Christmases ago I had just made 200.

Plus, on the story I just posted, that little story I wrote at midnight in one sitting? Yeah, I've gotten 9 reviews, all of them positive! They said it was very realistic and a few of them almost cried/did cry.

I don't know what my fanfiction.net account stats are, I'll check when I go back home.

*dances around house happily singing off tune*
ladysophiekitty: (Anne thinking)
As some of you may know, I love history. Last October in English we were assigned to write a story poem that was at least 40 lines long. I chose mine on Anne Boleyn. Unfortunately I had lost it for a while and only recently refound it, and so I can always find it if I need to, I decided I'd post it here. So please tell me what you think! Oh, and I apologize for any errors, my Dad's keyboard is rather difficult to type with.

Fic-list

Mar. 17th, 2008 07:10 pm
ladysophiekitty: ((writing) Fan Fic writer)
It's the oddest thing: whenever I read someone else's LJ or I read a diary story (I.E. The Princess Diaries before it got really bad) I have to write in my own. Only, usually what I have to say is amazingly boring. I just can't seem to write about my life very well. Oh well. I do, however, have a new obsession. It is in the form of Bones, and with that Booth/Brennan is my new ship. I think I may be even more obsessed with it than HHR, as amazing as that sounds.

Today I thought that I'd make a WIP vs. Completed list. Probably because once it's actually written out, I'll get off my lazy arse and actually write something. Hopefully it'll get me out of my dry spell. I've no problem with ideas, in fact if anything they are increasing (if that's even possible!) but I can't seem to write anything lately. The latest chapter of Speak is a WIP currently, and hopefully the new banner for it will be ready soon. And if I've done this in a previous post, I apologize. I'm too damn tired right now to remember a thing.

Completed Stories and number of chapters:
Time to Say Goodbye (1)
Alternative Ending (1)
Traitor (1)
Does She Love Me? (4)
Happily Ever After? (11)
Never Change (1)

WIPS and number of chapters:
The Perfect Life? (0 because I'm rewriting it)
The Powers Within (3)
Tempus Revertat/Back to the Future (14)
Ghosts of Yesterday (4)
Speak (15 1/2)
Ship of Dreams (4)
Expresssway to the Couch (3)
Love is a Battlefield (4)

I seem to like the numbers 1 and 4. But god is my update abilities sad. *sighs* I feel so ashamed because most people write longer (and better!) chapters than I do and still update more often. Oh well. All I can do is hope that my dry spell will end soon.
