New HHR fic
Sep. 14th, 2010 04:26 pmTitle: Wherever the Road Shall Go
Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing: Harry/Hermione
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1,760
Summary: It started with notes written to each other using magnets, and ended up in a road trip that led them to rediscover each other...and themselves. Harry/Hermione
Notes: This is kind of split up into two parts, which is why some parts might seen kind of sudden. But I did indicate where the second part begins. It turned out VERY different from how it was in my head, and I haven't decided yet whether that's a good thing. Anyway, let me know what you think! Part 1 uses the prompt "magnet poetry" from
schmoop_bingo , part 2 uses the prompt "fight/making up"

Jul. 23rd, 2010 05:54 pmWhile looking for Harry/Hermione stories at The Pit, I came across this summary: "Every man looks for a half-Swedish, half-Japanese, permanently 25-year-old, 5ft 8in bisexual gymnast with a penchant for slutty cocktail dresses and an erotically feisty side that meant arguments about the bills always deteriorates into sex" HP/HG
Me: Bwah?
I'm kind of tempted to read the story just to see if it's snark worthy.

*sigh of relief*
Nov. 29th, 2009 10:59 amI decided finally that I am done with my Harry Potter work-in-progress stories. I've been trying to write them for ages and putting them on my fic-to-finish list. But the stories are so old and I hate them and it's not working out so I told myself I am done. Well, minus one story that I don't hate so much that I'm going to attempt to write.
My fic-to-finish list went from in the 30's to 3 unfinished fic! It's like a weight off of my chest has been lifted. This is freeing! And now finishing everything on my fic-to-finish list doesn't seem like such a chore and it doesn't seem so impossible. :)

I will go down with this ship
Oct. 28th, 2009 07:30 pmThanks to the HBP movie and (because my NaNoWriMo fic is going to be for Harry Potter) I've been rereading the series, I've fallen in love with Harry/Hermione all over again.
I'd almost forgotten how much I love this pairing. They were my first obsession, the first couple I wrote for, the first couple to really give me the warm fuzzy feeling that my ships give me. These past few days I've been going fic searching. Who knows, maybe I'll even write something.
Also? The song titled Harry & Hermione for the HBP soundtrack is awesome and I love it.

Harry Potter
Jun. 20th, 2009 04:26 pmNot sure how done I am with Harry Potter in general because a part of me will always treasure it and love it but:
As of this moment, I am DONE with the HPFF forums. DONE! (well okay, I might still play at the arcade, but that's it.)
Most of the awesome people have left, so what's mostly left are fucking idiotic brown nosing bastards. While this isn't the cause of me signing off, I am sick of the Harry/Hermione thread being full of people who basically go "OMG EWWW HHR IT'S LIKE INCEST RHR FTW I CAN'T SEE HHR HAPPENING AT ALL EVEN JKR SAID SO!!!!!!!" It also doesn't help that I am a Harry/Hermione loving HBP and DH and Twilight hating person while everyone else are Harry/Hermione hating DH and HBP Ron/Hermione Harry/Ginny Twilight loving people.
Sure, there are a lot of asshole Harry/Hermione shippers out there. Our ship often has a bad name because of them. And yet for some reason, I feel so fiercly protective of them, too. It's because I tend to feel over-protective over ships that get a hard time in fanon/canon. I feel the same exact way about Angel/Cordelia.
Another thing? Phillip Pullman had a lovely quote about this that I can't find, but an author only has a certain amount of control over their work. Once it leaves their hands, it is free for people to interpret it in different ways. J.K. Rowling might have meant for Draco Malfoy to be a character everyone hates, but there are many MANY people out there who love him. It doesn't mean that they are wrong or that she's wrong. What you take out of a book or a movie or a TV show or a CD is going to be different than what I take out of it. It doesn't mean that I'm wrong or you're wrong.
ETA-this site is one of many sites that makes me pissed off and I sometimes (very rarely but on occasion) take it out on the fandom/author/other people. I apologize if this was ever the case for you. I really don't hate J.K. Rowling or the first 5 books or anything else I might have said at one point or another. I just feel frustrated sometimes at various parts of the fandom, and since I don't usually have a place to put that frustration, it comes out in the worst way possible.

About the plagiarizing...
May. 28th, 2009 07:23 pmI wrote the site and then I wrote the girl telling her that I had written the site and that I wouldn't hesitate to take further actions against her if I had to. The admin then wrote me this:
I'll delete everything right way.
Just so you know she said that her account was this also.
http://www.harrypotterfanfiction.com/viewuser.php?showuid=57072
and her user name on portkey is evilrubberducky.
Sorry for this.
Um yeah, those are me just on older, lamer usernames. Thanks for trying to take me down with you, bitch. God, now I'm all paranoid about my writing. At least the site took them down no problem. If I had to fight hard to get them down, I would be even more pissed off.
I honestly don't understand the point. I wrote those stories and I worked hard on them, so It pleases me to see them up and get reviews. But this girl, she didn't work at all. What pleasure can it possibly give her to see someone else's work with someone else's reviews? Not to mention that she must like my writing at least a little bit (because I don't think she would have plagiarized something she hated) but why would you do that to an author you admire? It's so rude and disrespectful and not a great way to show that you like their writing.
Aaaaand I'm probably a little insane for doing this as I'm feeling a bit sensitive writing wise right now but:

THE ANONYMOUS WRITING FEEDBACK MEME
It's official
May. 26th, 2009 05:22 pmI'm definitely an author. Because I've just caught my stories being plagiarized on this Harry/Hermione site. Same name, all of my Harry Potter stories posted (minus one of them) posted there. The site glitched for a moment giving all of my stories the same posting date which creeped me out for a second because it told me that Missing Her was posted before it was ever written. Then I pressed refresh and the dates made sense.
They say that imitation is a form of flattery, and it could be because I'm already having a shitty day, but fuck, I'm pissed. I contacted the site, so hopefully eveything turns out okay.

Dear readers
Apr. 26th, 2009 04:47 amDear readers,
I'm sorry I haven't updated any of my stories since November. I really am. I'm quite aware of the fact and I hate it and man I wish I could update every day. But I can't control writer's block, I can't control that I don't have the energy to write, I can't control the fact that I have things going on in my life that makes it so that sometimes, I don't even WANT to write.
I miss writing a lot. What you don't seem to get is that flaming me? Yeah, it honestly doesn't help. My hiatus from the Harry Potter fandom almost two years ago when I read and despised the last two books wouldn't have gone on quite as long if some idiot hadn't tried to blackmail me into writing. Want to know what occasionally works to get that writing spark to spark again? Amazing reviews. That's why when I usually write a review or a message to someone to get them to update, I usually include a gentle reminder they haven't updated, a ton of compliments, and the fact that I understand about RL and things getting in the way. It's even worked a few times!
But leaving me reviews such as the ones I've mentioned in the past or my newest, csn't cha hurry up already?, doesn't make me want to write.
Love,
Sophie

Oddball Reviews
Jan. 25th, 2009 08:49 am And whadaya know, I got another one! The second story I ever wrote 3 years ago (which is still a WIP) was for the Harry Potter fandom, and it was a time travel story. Very badly written, not very fond of the plot, and it hasn't been updated for a year, and I mostly lost interest in it when I pretty much lost interest in the Harry Potter fandom, though I'm trying to work on it. In fact, that's the story I'm trying to finish this month for
ficfinishing though so far I'm failing. Anyway, so I check my e-mail this morning and I get:
People who write a disappointing end to a great series are suckers.
But people who refuse to finish a story for a rubbish reason are the greatest
suckers.
I really wished to read this, even though the writing itself isn't so
interesting, the plot definitely is.
You suck. Period.
Written by an anonymous reviewer, big surprise there.
Thanks, "Ah". I needed a good laugh today.

Where else could it be but from The Pit?
Nov. 8th, 2008 08:36 amwell that was a little pointless. I would classify it as a drabble..
Ahh, I remember the old days when I would get really offended and make a snarky reply back. Now I just snark in my LJ. :P
I just love how all my bad reviews are anonymous. C'mon people, if you wanna tell me something, then don't hide behind an anonymous name! Just tell me!

All Hallows Eve (1/1)
Oct. 26th, 2008 05:04 pm
Name- All Hallows Eve
Pairing- Harry/Hermione
length- 1,400
rating- K+/12+
summary- When Hermione Granger falls ill with a bad cold on Halloween, she forgets all about the fact that it's Halloween. But Harry Potter hasn't, and he's convinced to make this Halloween her most memorable yet.

More graphics!
Oct. 26th, 2008 03:33 pm So I worked on some icons today, all from a particular image of Willow. First I tried cropping it myself, which didn't turn out too well:
( cut for pics )
LOL, I doubt anyone would want to take them, but if you do please comment and credit.

Oct. 23rd, 2008 05:45 pm It has now been about a year and a few months since I mostly fell out of the Harry Potter fandom. Most of my participation now is because of all the great people I've met through Harry Potter that I still talk to and because I still have quite a few WIPS (and by quite a few, I mean about 13). Because of my lack of interest, it has been rather hard for me to write lately. My friend was like, "well, why don't you just abandon them?" But I can't do that. I'd feel bad for the people who read it and I hate leaving so many things unfinished. Therefor I have decided to do operation force-myself-back-in-the-fandom. At least temporarily, enough to get some writing done! So any essays, stories, graphics, or fond memories or favorite scenes you have to share from Harry Potter would be much appreciated. Preferably Harry/Hermione based, though any are nice.
Also, do you remember your first time being a part of a fandom? Not just Harry Potter, any fandom. I know I was very...confused at all the terms when I started out. "OBHWF? OTP? SHIP? What the hell is this shit?" and a lot of what I learned was through experimenting. Which wasn't always the nicest for my 11 year old self when it came to things like PWP (porn without plot) I've been thinking of making a fandom dictionary. What do you think of that? I might need some help though from you guys. I know a lot of terms, but I'm not completely fluent in fannish.
Sorry for the spammage today, by the way. *posts way too much*

Harry Potter sonnet
Oct. 15th, 2008 08:35 pm We had another sonnet to write for English. This time it was supposed to be a prologue of sorts to any published book we wanted. I wanted to do Speak, but I doubted the content would be found suitable. I chose to do Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets instead. Unfortunately, I had a lot to do tonight, so I wrote it in like 5 minutes. It really sucks! Oh well. :P
Boy named Harry both his parents are dead
He lives with his aunt who is filled with hate
Now he goes to school, which he does not dread
But little Harry can’t escape his fate
For roaming the halls there’s an evil snake
And students are giving Harry the blame
The whis'pring is almost too much to take
The way it hurts mudbloods is all the same
‘Mione found a trick with a mirror
It didn’t kill her but made her frozen
A paper made the way even clearer
It's obvious that Harry was chosen
An old enemy it was sure to be
What happens next you'll have to wait to see!
I must be insane
Oct. 1st, 2008 03:48 pmEven though I wasn't going to until next month, once the post was staring at me, I couldn't help but join! So I'm participating in
ficfinishing 's October round. Yay! Unfortunately they don't have Harry Potter yet (*cough anyone who requests it in the fandom requesting post will be much loved cough*) so I joined for Bones. I have been writing for that fandom a bit more lately, and it would be nice to FINALLY finish A Phone Call Away/A Day with the Squints/In the Dark drabble table. I signed up for ADwtS though, and will do the rest next time. Unless Harry Potter gets approved, that is.
Maybe next time I'll try to write some Angel. Still a bit hesitant about writing for that fandom, though.
Just out of curiosity, anyone else on my F-list joining in for
ficfinishing or Nanowrimo this year?
