Ooh "Beloved"! <33 I love that one...I mean it's not the easiest read, but it's very profound and gripping. I somehow ended up with 2 copies and got both signed by Toni Morrison a few years ago (who is awesome...she started writing in part because the writing club had good free food, lmao).

And yeah I should probably get around to reading the rest of the Sevenwaters series someday...the last one I read was "heir to Sevenwaters." I also have been meaning to check out Mead's new series as well. Too many books, too little time!

Ugh, it annoys me though that that one book is titled "The Women Who Ruled England Before Elizabeth" but apparently only briefly mentions Mary as almost an afterthought. As if Elizabeth were the first queen regnant, when Mary broke so much ground for her in so many ways...but she is ever overlooked. /bitter history rant

White Oleander! It was my favorite book for years before it got replaced by Jane Eyre. It's really intense and there are so sexual moments but I think within the narrative of the story they fit. It's a really good book.

If you're going to read Beloved, you should check out The Bluest Eye also. It only took me a day to read, and it's one of my favorites.
