ladysophiekitty: (HHR Love and Desire)

I had a really nice time yesterday. Well, in the morning I had to do a bunch of schoolwork which wasn't so nice, but in the afternoon my friend's mom picked me up, and my friend's brother was in the car. She took us to In 'N Out (a burger joint) and we got the food to go. Then we went by her house to pick up my friend's little sister (who made me a birthday card that was adorable and so cute!) and my friend's mom gave me my birthday present, the book Ever by Gail Carson Levine. Well, my friend wasn't feeling well so she didn't end up coming with us. The mom said "Oh, by the way, you don't need to pay me back for the ticket. It's your birthday!" and afterwards she made me a delicious smoothie, so it was all really nice.

OK, so the movie. I know a few people were curious what I'd think since I loathed the book, and I'd be happy to tell you, but first let me say something about me. I AM a shipper, but I don't let that define who I am in fandom. Meaning that while I'll be like, "Oh yay! Something for my ship happened" it's not the source of all of my opinions and not what I talk about. My ship can be lovely and amazing and I can still dislike a movie/show/book whatever. Or, my ship could have not had anything happen for them and I'll love the show.book/movie etc.

I can count on one hand the amount of times I've gone on, what I am going to call, a shipper's high. This means I've lost all coherent thoughts about the thing and I have no opinion at all about other stuff because it's all "OMG MY SHIP AAHHHHH"

So, let's talk about my ship. I love these kids, and we've gone through so much together. So when she was cutting his hair and they were DANCING (was I the only one who thought they looked like they were going to kiss?) and holding each other's hands and arms and looking out for each other and her resting her head on his shoulder, this was me. OMG SQUEEEEEEEEEE. And the kiss? Ridiculously hot. Emma seemed to really go for it, too.

The only other things that really registered were this, so I'll talk about it.
1. Some of the scenery was just gorgeous!

2. The humor actually made me laugh. Sometimes things that are supposed to be funny in these movies don't make me laugh, but when Harry was like, "just keep talking about the ball of light going through your heart" I laughed. Other parts, too. I think I heard some people complaining about the humor because it's supposed to be all ~serious~ but the thing is, even in the most tense and serious times, there are things that make people smile or laugh or joke around.

3. I think this is the first time after the third movie that I haven't thought it was choppy. The other movies felt so choppy and the things they choose to tell vs what they choose not to tell are so random! I usually end up thinking, "Huh? Why did they choose that?" But this one took its time and felt so much smoother. I might actually even buy part one when it comes out.

4. I was a little worried about where they would cut off for part one. Would it feel suddenly abrupt? But it felt like an ending to me. When Voldemort was opening Dumbledore's grave, I was thinking, "Oh, this must be the ending" and lo and behold, it was!

was I the only one who thought they looked like they were going to kiss?
I thought they were, ngl.

I thought the humour was good. It wasn't too much, but it stopped it being to serious and heavy.

When the last scene started mum and I both said, "This'll be the end..." Think it was a place to end.

ETA: A place to ened? WTF. A GOOD place to end, I meant.

It is tomorrow, but the celebration tends to last several days. Haha, like right now, I'm celebrating it with my mom who made me pancakes and gave me gifts.

THEY TOTALLY LOOKED LIKE THEY WERE GOING TO KISS, THERE ARE GOING TO BE SO MANY SLOW-MO BITS OF THAT IN FANVIDS. I LOVE THESE PEOPLE.

BEST OTP. it's all i can talk about this week. my best friend is r/hr but not a bitch so i'm subjecting her to my madness.

THERE BETTER BE A SHIT TON OF NEW VIDS FROM THIS MOVIE. Cuz we got our kiss a whole 6 months before the R/Hrs get theirs (and the H/Gers didn't even get a new "birthday" kiss here), and we should take advantage! :D

OH IT'S GOING TO BE ALL OVER THE PLACE IT'S GOING TO BE FLAWLESS.

i think i'm going to have a non-canon HP comment-a-thon so that i can harness this last gasp of air our fandom has in it.

I HOPE SO...I ALSO WANT GIFS NOW, EVEN IF CRAPPY BOOTLEG QUALITY, SO WE CAN WATCH IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Oooh, good idea. And last gasp indeed...it's nice to recover some of my old enthusiasm for H/Hr and HP thanks to this film! There was so much H/Hr and so little H/G and R/Hr, it was amazing...

i find it so funny because all the r/hr shippers are like OUR KIDS WERE PERFECT and i'm like lol i still don't understand how so many people ship this.

Wow, they are? I thought there was hardly any R/Hr in this film, lol, esp. compared to the book, and so much HHr, I would have thought the RHrs would all be pissed! And yeah, IDGI either. My friend that I saw the movie with, who is not at all into fandom but has read all the books was saying beforehand how unsuited Ron is for Hermione, how at least Harry is closer to her level, excels her in some areas like DADA, etc. One of the mysteries of the universe, lol.

lol i never understand that ship. i understand it if you're into ron as a character or the trio as a thing but i do not so idgaf

Lol, I know what you mean--my impressions of the movie can mostly be summed up by "major shipping squeeeee"! :p. Honestly, apart from the euphoria-inducing H/Hr bits and the beautiful scenery, I thought the movie was a little meh--I definitely disagree about the choppiness, it was a lot more choppy than I was expecting, given they were splitting it into two films...but whatever, the H/Hr was glorious! :D. I want to see this again..no, I want GIFS of the kiss dammit, it happened too fast for me to register a final, proper opinion.

The dancing was adorable! I loved it so much.

2) I laughed in some parts too!

3) Five was way too choppy in my opinion. This one flowed nicely!

I really enjoyed all the humor, because yeah, it's a dark book, but funny things still happen.

I think my favorite bit was honestly the Three Brothers story. The way they did that was so incredibly cool, I think, especially because having it be read could have been boring, and instead they made it AWESOME.

I think it's the best one yet. I'm also really happy they didn't cut the film after Ron returned as it was originally planned, because the scene at Malfoy Manor was kick-ass.

Loved all the trio bits. I can't believe there's only one more movie to go and then it'll be over.

I don't know why they made Malfoy Manor so gloomy. Maybe the white peacocks will be featured in Part 2? *is hopeful*
