Feminism
I've been wanting to talk about this for a while. I am a feminist, though it's not something that usually comes up in my real life. I remember one time last year it came up and this guy said, "don't hate me because I'm male!" and I was like, "Um, I don't hate men?" It also came up at dinner a few nights ago when I mentioned that everyone has their own definition of what a feminist is. My dad asked me, "So what's your definition, Sophie?"
Feminism to me is all about choice. It's about supporting women for any career choice or lifestyle and giving them the opportunity to do it. If you want to be a teacher or a doctor or an astronaut or a president or a stay at home mom, go for it. I respect and support you. It's about having the same rights and opportunities and respect that men have.
I don't hate men. I want to marry one someday and have children and be an amazing mother.

Again, I'm not saying that you don't support equality. I'm saying I don't like the way the word "feminism" is used to mean that. It just looks very one-sided. It looks like it would describe supporting a woman in a traditionally male-dominated field (like science or whatever), but not so much for a man wanting to do something considered feminine (like write romance or something), I know historically, there has been more resistance against women (and in more places) but referring to the concept of equality using a word that clearly leans one way seems off.
