I'm doing pretty well! Though I think this might be my last year for a while. I've done it 4 years now and 1. I get really exhausted (I've been sick with a cold the past week which makes me not want to write) 2. I end up either never opening/finishing the novel I started because I don't even want to know what I was on half the time, or if I do, then I get so overwhelmed by all the editing I have to do that I never do it.
Not to mention that NaNoWriMo was more fun in the past. Even years where I failed miserably, the whole environment was so much fun that honestly, I didn't care. So next year I might take it off. After that, who knows? I know that the college I want to go to has nice group NaNoWriMo writing sessions so if I end up going there, maybe I'll do that.
I have the next week off, so I'll do a lot of writing then.
How is everyone else doing?

WOOHOO! Most of that is my word count yesterday, but I got some from today, too. While writing an essay for Anthropology I was thinking about my story, and I have some ideas. Mostly, I wrote parts of it in my head, so hopefully that'll translate on paper (or, computer) rather well.
Question, is the blogging every day challenge this month too? Because I might also do that.

Fan fic anniversary
Nov. 24th, 2009 07:18 amToday is my fifth fan fic anniversary. I always think of Thanksgiving as my anniversary even though that date changes every year, but this is the official day.
Five years ago we were planning to go to my mom's boyfriend's parents house for Thanksgiving but my sister was having heart problems (I forget what it's called but sometimes her heart starts to beat really fast) and I had a bad cough so mom canceled on them and we stayed home. I'd been reading fanfic for about 3 months at that time (the day I started reading fic, I turned into an internet addict *points to icon*) and I decided to type up this fanfic I'd written the first chapter to. I posted it on fanfiction.net and then I got my first review and I got addicted. I wrote 4 (badly written and short) chapters that day because I didn't want the reviews to slow down.
I remember later on we invited dad (which was weird since at that point my parents had been divorced for 7 years and my mom hated dad and they had been fighting) to have a Thanksgiving dinner at Mimi's Cafe, so even though it wasn't an at home and home cooked dinner, we still got our meal.
In those three months, I'd wanted to write fic so bad. But the ideas never came. However, once the first fic was written, the ideas never stopped coming and they still haven't stopped coming.
I think I'm going to try to finish NaNoWriMo today since this date has special meaning and I only have 3K left to go, LOL.

I'm such a geek
Nov. 13th, 2009 03:57 pmFor anyone who doesn't know, 22 is my favorite number. Not just because my birthday is on November 22! I didn't mean for that to happen. I was just like, "I love this number" a few years ago and then one day I was like, "Hey, my birthday is on the 22nd!"
Moving on, I made my NaNoWriMo word count be exactly

I was sick on Tuesday and had yesterday off so I wrote like MAD! But I haven't been able to update my word count for a few days because NaNo has been down for me. Anyone else having issues? Though I'm having less issues than last year, thank goodness.
Oh, I got a new mood theme (yet again!)

Nov. 15th, 2008 10:00 pmI was bored tonight, but I don't have PS on this computer, so I fooled around on photobucket instead. Mostly fooling around with the same images. I'll probably make another post later.

Nov. 3rd, 2008 05:18 amI was hoping to have 10K this weekend and I only ended up with a little over 2K. My story is being particularly stubborn *stabs stories and plots and all characters*
HOWEVER, it wasn't a totally unproductive weekend. I redid my LJ layout, made 20 new friends (*waves to them all*), wrote an essay outline, read about 15 stories, organized my desk, bought the Bones soundtrack finally, and worked on bringing
pencil_posse back to life while shamelessly promoting it to my new friends. As I told a few of you, my motto should be Procrastination: getting everything done except the thing that you're meant to be doing.
To be honest, as long as I get 15K or more by the end of the month, I'll be happy.
Oh, any story recs you guys have? I 'm in the reading mood and I've gotten a lot less daring at actually venturing out to look in The Pit.

Nov. 2nd, 2008 08:56 amHeh, Day 2 and I just got the mininum for Day 1. Each word is a struggle. It's just been too long since I've written Original fic. But the first few days always suck and then it gets mad fun. At least, that's what I'm trying to tell myself so I don't give up.
One nice thing about having something so big to procrastinate on is that I get a lot of other things done. When you have a ton of little things you are putting off, it can be easy to ignore everything. I'm probably going to redo my LJ a bit and work on a few other things I've been meaning to do in between writing.
Also, word wars and aim conversations begging for help are amazing. I'd probably have like, 200 words if it weren't for that. Most of what I've written is crap, but that's what December's for.

Nov. 1st, 2008 11:46 amFor those of you who are writing NaNoWriMo, or just writing something, I suggest Write or Die at http://lab.drwicked.com/writeordie.html
it's a great way to get a lot done. And I need all the help I can get. I have 400 words for 3 hours of work, but I've been working on a lot of plot ideas and such. So I have a lot for future writing, and hey, the day is still young. I know the NaNo site must be getting A LOT of traffic right now, but I wish it was working.

Since a lot of us are doing it and feeling a bit freaked out (and excited!) right now, I thought I'd bring you some goodies. First off, the icon I'm using. Those of you who don't know the end of the world video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZMwKPmsbWE) probably won't get it, and those who have might not find it amusing as I did, but whatever. We all know that I have a bit of an odd sense of humor. Blame the fandamnly AKA- the family. It was made by

The other thing is something that
nederlandergirl posted on the NaNoWriMo community. I TAKE NO CREDIT FOR THIS
NaNoWriMo starts in just two days, and if you still have the pre-NaNo delusions that are leading you to believe that NaNo is a wonderland of fun, here is a sobering lecture, to calm you down and remind you that, well, you can't roundhouse kick your wordcount in the teeth.
Chuck Norris threw his typewriter at the wall, not out of frustration, but merely curiosity. Out popped Les Miserables but after reading the manuscript, Chuck decided it was bullshit and threw it in the trash.
After the first two days of NaNoWriMo, Chuck Norris had written and edited a reasonably-sized novel he considered calling War and Peace. But after reading it over on NaNo Day Three, he realized that it was seriously lacking and put it away in a cupboard. In the next few weeks, he worked at his next idea, the result being an action/adventure pupl novel called the Bible.
"Back space" is not in Chuck Norris' extensive vocabulary. He writes his novel by hand. With calligraphy pens.
Chuck Norris found other people's handwriting irritatingly messy. That's why he invented Times New Roman. He himself, of course, simply dictates the story to his writing materials. Font is irrelevant to him.
Lewis Carroll, Mark Twain, Joseph Conrad, Rudyard Kipling, Gore Vidal. What do these names all have in common? They are pseudonyms used by Chuck Norris. He's a very modest person, after all.
Chuck Norris ran with scissors, danced with wolves and knew what you did last summer. All in a day's work.
Moll Flanders is Chuck Norris' ex-girlfriend. He became the first ex ever to release private memories to the public out of malice and (perhaps) bad taste. He refuses to acknowlege any similarities between himself and Emily Gould.
And let's not forget...Chuck Norris won NaNoWriMo. In October.

So here's to hoping that this year is way more successful than last! *crosses fingers*
I'm hoping to get a good 10K done this weekend, so that way if I am unable to write another day then I won't be completely behind. That, and I'll already have more words than I got done last year. I'm making small steps for myself: 15 K, then 22 K, and then 45 K, and then 50 K. If any one of those are accomplished, then I will be happy because that's more than I get done in a month normally.
WOOT! Only about 18 hours!
May the muse be with you.
